In the past weeks, my viewership has filed a few complaints with 1-800-CALL-ERW: how come your reviews are mostly 4-5 stars? That is a fair question, and I guess my response would be that with all the great content out there, I can barely keep up watching (and then blogging about) the good stuff …. Now throw the bad stuff in the mix and I can quit my day job and become a full-time (actually doesn’t sound that bad)…

But anyhow … I’m getting off topic, in order to serve my loyal base, I did watch a movie which was subject to low ratings but had a good and promising trailer for it to be a good Saturday night entertainment … I’m talking about “Now you see me”. And boy, was that a bad movie.

It starts off as kind of a promising film with magic at its core. With Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg, I thought this movie not only deserves a fair shot, it might actually end up being entertaining. Again wrong…The cast of the 4 Horses are magicians with super magic abilities who are have kind of Robin-Hood’ish motives and end up donating money of somebody who doesn’t deserve it to the poor people in the audience. I mean this is just so deep and contemporary, with the financial crisis going and everything, I mean the screenwriters really hit a nerve there with me…NOT. Then there is the FBI agent who is always one step behind the 4 Horseman…and boy is he dumb, he just doesn’t get a clue at all and always needs his french, pretty counterpart (who he of course ends up making out with …. oops Spoiler… but whatever, that movie sucks anyways) to explain him everything.

And once the 4 Horseman get to their final trick, the absolute climax, the magic trick which is supposed to change everything … there is a twist … and it sucks so bad (but I won’t tell you what, I guess I already spoiled enough).

Anyhow, in the end, all I could think of was a) what were Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman thinking when they signed for this movie, didn’t they read the terrible script first? and b) what were the screenwriters thinking when they handed over such a terrible script to the studio? That they would actually get funding…oh hold on they actually did.

Do not waste the 90 minutes of your life with this movie, it totally blows. There Erwinreview readers, here is my first takedown of a movie…and I wish I never watched it in the first place.
