First I started to write my reviews and then noticed that the majority I watched in theaters for some reasons were comedies, and here is my top list of comedies in 2012 (NOTE: Still haven’t watch “This is 40”)

Ted

Most clearly the best comedy of the year, Seth MacFarlaine once again showed his genuine love for New England and found the perfect cast with Ted and Mark Wahlberg for this picture. Very funny and memorable scenes such as being high with Flash Gordon or (one of my favorites) the relieving big fart after a first date.

21 Jump Street

Definitely not the best movie of the year, but the combination of Jonah Hill and Chaning Tautum was just such a surprisingly funny element in the otherwise very hit-or-miss field of R-rated comedy. Everything about this comedy was hit, so it will make the best of 2012 in my personal movie ratings.

American Reunion

I might get slaughtered for this by movie critics, but the American Pie series is just somewhat a travel back in time for me. Not that I went to High School in the US but I still remember 1997 when the first part of the series hit theaters in Germany. It was so funny and awesome that this movie will always have a special place in my heart. With American Wedding being a really weak third part, I was hoping that American Reunion might bring the series to a good and final closing, and it totally did. Jokes were not always great but all in all, you just have to love this bunch.

The Campaign

There clearly could not have a better time to release this movie. During one of the most ridiculous and dirt-throwing political campaigns in history. Will Ferell and Zack Galafinakis hit the jackpot with their picture, showing the different ways to create fear and use dishonesty to win a campaign. Will Ferell showed one of his top performances IMHO.

I’m missing The Dictator in your list. Clearly profane language and highly political incorrect but very well done and there are little movies which are going that. All in all the best satire in 2012 IMO followed by The Campaign.

Even though Sacha Baron Cohen has great writing, he takes it a notch too far and does it in a way which is more obnoxious than it is funny. That’s why Erwinreviews.com did not take The Dictator into the list…
      Thanks for your comments
